Hebrew Is Such An Important Language

After Noach’s universal flood El Elyown or the Angel of Yahuw’ah revealed Himself to a Semitic people who spoke Hebrew, namely Abram and his descendants. It is no coincidence that the slaves dwelling in the land of Goshen were called Hebrews (‘ibrî).

Then He sent Yeshuwa as His only-begotten Son into a Jewish society which both practised circumcision and claimed to uphold the Law and the Prophets. These were widely read in local synagogues and at the Temple in Hebrew, except that El Elyown had for centuries been altered to Yahuw’ah in the push for monotheism.

Speaking Hebrew Names -  I

Many people are naturally annoyed by the way familiar names in their Bibles are replaced with strange-looking and weird-sounding ones. There is a reason for this. As much distance as possible has to separate the Hebrew originals from the common Greek distortions.

The present writer struggled long with this issue. Why not Yeshua or Elohim, which seem to be common conventions among some? The driving force was to create a naming style as unique as the FIMIOL photographs and reflect its heavenly origin. After all, Hebrew is the written and spoken language of Heaven.

By using Yeshuwa the mater lectionis (Hebrew waw) is featured and helps with the pronunciation of Yeh-shoo-a. The ‘iy’ in a name emphasises the ‘eem’ sound, like in el-u-heem, rather than el-u-him.

Yahuw’ah

Yahuw’ah is the proper pointing for the Tetragrammaton YHWH. It may and must be spoken out loud with respect and reverence, regardless of one’s language and dialect. Before the silencing of His name on Saturday, December 4, 208 BCE it featured in the Five Books of Mosheh as part of the Greek Septuagint and was spoken out loud.

Shimon’s edict changed all that and so the Greeks lost the ability to pronounce His name. It can be re-learned. Listen to the audio and practise speaking it. Doing so correctly is important for having a relationship with Him, as it is with Yeshuwa and the others.

There is plenty of evidence for this pronunciation. So many names end with a mater lectionis, that is, the W of YHWH. Names abound like Eliyahuw (Elijah), Shekanyahuw (Shecaniah), Delayahuw (Delaiah), Me’ozyahuw (Ma’aziah), Yesha’yahuw (Isaiah) and Yiremyahuw (Jeremiah).

The final letter H is consonantal, like in eluw’ah. It is a distinctive sound. So one can give Jehovah and Yahweh a miss, that is, remove them from one’s list of names for the Creator and Heavenly Father.

The -iy, as in Gabriy’el, also highlights the long vowel yodh. Sadly, Serif WebPlus X8 no longer supports Hebrew characters. These are then transliterated.
